An Introduction to Santa Rosa Christian Schools

Santa Rosa Christian Learning Center (ages 2-4)

The Learning Center STEPS program ("Sequential Training Experiences for Pre-Schoolers") is carefully planned to provide meaningful, fulfilling experiences for this important stage of mental and physical development.  Professional, loving care-givers provide guidance and understanding while encouraging new challenges, developing self-confidence, and building positive relationships in a warm Christian atmosphere.  Special attention is given to training in proper school habits, to building good attitudes toward learning, and to laying a strong foundation in the fundamentals on which to build elementary school training.  Our pre-school classrooms are equipped with furniture and equipment designed for the pre-school age child.  A spacious playground provides safe, clean areas for play and physical education activities.

Kindergarten-4

The DARTS program ("Developmental Activities and Readiness Training Skills") gives your four-year old a decided advantage not only in introductory numbers and phonics, but also in foundational concepts, perceptual, cognitive, and manipulative skills.  Delightful music, stories, and creative learning experiences add to the development of the total child.  The warm and loving environment builds self-concept and social skills.  Attendance is accepted on a half day or full day basis.  Our K-4 program can also be combined with before and after-school care for those who desire both services.

Kindergarten-5

The LEAPS program ("Language Enrichment Activities and Perceptual Skills") is a coordinated program of both cognitive and physical skills.  A stimulating phonics curriculum develops reading skills, and K-5 children learn to read.  A basal number curriculum builds a solid math foundation.  Balanced by delightful experiences in music, science, and children's literature, LEAPS provides each child with a full learning program and meets state attendance requirements.  Daily Bible time gives the basis for character training in a caring and stimulating environment.  Each year the five-year-old kindergarten students are honored with a special graduation ceremony in recognition of their achievement.

Elementary School (Grades 1-5)

The student forms most of his basic beliefs, concepts, and life principles before he reaches the secondary level of education.  At the elementary school level, great emphasis is placed on the basic fundamentals of education.  Each day begins with Bible time.  A strong phonics program provides reading skills.  A strong mathematics program using traditional methods of memorization, drill, and concepts provides an excellent base for future study.  Penmanship is still considered important.  History, Science, Music and related subjects are studied throughout the program, in addition to the emphasis on basic skills.  It is our conviction that the basics of education must be mastered in the elementary grades.  Report slips every three weeks, report cards, and parent-teacher conferences are essential parts of the process.  We offer you a proven educational program designed for the average student but producing above-average results, all in a warm Christian atmosphere.  The school emphasizes the building of Christian character, Americanism, and our American Christian heritage throughout the curriculum.  Before and after school extended care is available for the convenience of working parents.

Academy (Grades 6-12)

This is the time for spiritual and academic growth.  Social habits, friendships, goals, and desires are established for life during these important formative years.  Because a student's future is dependent upon the training and guidance given during these years, we believe a Bible-based education is imperative. Self-discipline, obedience, respect for authority, love for fellow man, country, and God, honesty, and dependability are emphasized and taught from a Christian perspective.  Santa Rosa Christian Academy offers an educational program that is primarily college preparatory.  A few general curriculum courses are available for transfer students lacking sufficient academic backgrounds in Mathematics, Science, etc.  Each student must complete the basic requirements of the State of Florida and of the Academy and must earn sufficient credits in order to graduate.
