Santa Rosa Christian School General Policies

Supervisors will be on duty each day from 7:45-8:15 a.m. and from 3:00-3:30 p.m.  The school will not be responsible for students before 7:45 a.m. or after 3:15 p.m. unless they are enrolled in the Extended Day Care Program, are employed in an after school job under Mr. Brainard's supervision, are involved in a school sponsored and chaperoned activity (sports practices or games), or they are in an after-school tutoring class.  Students not picked up by 3:15 p.m. will be taken to after school care and must be picked up there.  (Applicable charges for this service will be billed. $5 per hour for any part of an hour.)

Absences: In order to gain the most from school, each student must be in regular attendance.  Absences are excused if the student is sick, if there is a death in the family, if the student has a doctor's appointment, or some other personal reason approved by the administration.  A note stating the reason for the absence and signed by the parent is to be brought the day the student returns to class.  K-5 through fifth grade students are to take their notes directly to their teacher.  Students in grades 6-12 are to bring their notes directly to the office in order to secure an admission slip to class.  Failure to bring a note to school will result in an unexcused absence.  If a student in grades 6-12 has an unexcused absence, they will receive a zero for a daily grade in each class missed as well as a zero in any tests or quizzes missed.  All assignments and tests missed due to an excused absence must be made up within the number of days missed in order to receive credit.  Students who are absent are expected to check with their classroom teachers upon returning to school to get all assignments missed.

Pre-excused absences may be considered if parents need to take their children out of school for personal reasons.  These must be arranged 48 hours in advance.  The parent must call or send a note to the school office requesting the absence.  If approved, the student will then receive a permission slip which must be signed by all teachers notifying them of the planned absence.  Failure to secure advance permission to miss school will result in an unexcused absence, and the student will receive a zero for a daily grade in each class missed as well as a zero in any tests or quizzes missed.  Excessive absences may be reason for class retention.

Tardiness:  Students must be at school and in class on time.  Habitual tardiness will result in a parent conference with the school administrator.  Florida State law requires us to contact the home of any child that is absent from school.

Contacting Students: Messages or items that need to be delivered to students are to be brought to the school office.  A parent who needs to pick up a student during a school day should contact the office in advance, so that the student may be ready when the parent comes.  Under no circumstances is a parent to go to the student's classroom to contact a student.  Transportation changes should be by parent's note to teacher in the morning or called into the office not later than one hour before dismissal time in order to assure the message is handled properly.  For the safety of the children, parents and other adults ARE NOT permitted in the school building without an escort.  ALL parents and visitors must report to the office. Student's cell phones must be turned off from 8:15 to 3:00.

Books: In case of loss of textbooks, workbooks, or library books, parents will be billed for total price of replacement of such books.  Damaged books will be assessed accordingly.
